Take the Risk, Start a Small Business!

Take the Risk!  Seaside Nannies Inc.

Seaside Nannies has evolved from an idea into a reality and has gone beyond the scale of its first concept.  I have learned that this is a constant journey in which each time something new happens, I learn and grow from the experience.  Becoming your own boss comes with unknown pitfalls and unfamiliar scenarios in which navigating through them can be challenging, but in return self-employment can be an empowering course of self-growth.

When I stopped working as a preschool teacher and quit my last nanny position, my thought process was that if Seaside Nannies was to fail, I could always go back to working hands-on, in the field I love, with children and their families.  When I gave notice, and said my last good-byes to my Principals and the children in which I had cared for since their birth, I felt a massive sense of relief and welcomed the thought of the new journey in front of me.

When I was 22 years old, I was given a book called “Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow” by Marsha Sinetar.  The book offered basic principles, ideas and examples of why and how someone can do what they love with satisfaction and make a living doing it.  I am a firm believer that if you know your industry well, can take a risk with little to no fear, your skill set and knowledge base could launch you into building an incredible business in which can afford you a nice life and ideally becoming your own boss.

I did not have a lot of support to start my own business.  My family was incessant of wanting me to obtain a Masters degree and a teaching credential so that I would be able to retire with a pension and always have an income.  However, I didn’t listen.  I knew in my heart that if I didn’t try, I would never know.  My advice for anyone beginning to embark on a new chapter in their lives by taking the risk of starting a business, don’t ever take advice from someone who isn’t where you want to be and always follow your heart.

This blog post offers a brief insight for anyone who is interested in starting a small business, becoming successful and following your own lead.
