Session

When you invest in a partnership with Seaside Staffing Company, our first step is to have a heart-to-heart, face-to-face conversation. We'll talk about your must-haves and your dream list, and we'll create and review detailed job descriptions. Then, our placement coordinators will get to work on finding your right-fit candidate.

Candidate
Selection

You'll receive 3 - 5 candidate packages to review, and once you've decided who you want to connect with, we'll set up Zoom interviews* and home trials**.

*In California, all childcare providers are fingerprinted and registered with the Trustline™ Registry before initial interview, which includes candidates being fingerprinted and registered with DOJ, FBI, California Department of Social Services, and the Central Childcare Index.

**Trial times should not exceed 2 weeks.

Matched Hire

After you've picked your preferred candidate, we'll help put together their job offer with you and run any extra background checks that are needed. All background checks include a Social Security number trace, all counties of residence checked for criminal activity, and a DMV report. Initial candidate packages contain documented references and we scour the web and double check all social media platforms.

How do I start the process?

What is the typical hourly rate for a Seaside Family Assistant?

All Seaside Family Assistants earn $35 – $40/hour.

What are your agency fees?

All searches with Seaside Staffing Company require a non-refundable $500 initial investment. This guarantees access to the best Family Assistants and helps us match to your specific needs. All placement investments are based upon a percentage of the Family Assistant's annual salary, with a minimum investment of $6,500.

Does Seaside handle payroll?

Seaside is a referral agency only, so all clients are responsible for making sure that their Family Assistant is paid properly. We are happy to refer you to our own trusted and highly vetted payroll services.

Do I have to worry about tax withholding?

Yes. Because you will be considered your Family Assistant's employer, you will be responsible for all tax withholding. We are happy to refer you to our own trusted and highly vetted payroll services.

Do I need to offer benefits?

State requirements may vary on this; however, Seaside Family Assistants are hired by the most sophisticated households throughout the country and typically receive paid time off, health insurance, federal holidays, sick pay and a mileage reimbursement.

Screening + Process

Is Seaside a trusted and verified agency?

We are members of the Association of Premier Nanny Agencies (APNA), a membership organization that establishes standards in the nanny and household staffing industry. APNA member agencies have their contracts, applications and business practices scrutinized by peers to ensure that only the best agencies bear the APNA seal.

How do you find and screen your Family Assistants?

We've built our database of thousands of candidates over our 20-year history and leverage that as a first step for all roles. Most of our candidates come to us via word of mouth through the community or are recommended by their past employers. Some find us online through various search engines and social media platforms. After we review submitted resumes, we request a phone call with qualified candidates. If the initial phone call goes well and the candidate meets our requirements, we request a face-to-face interview. We require a cover letter, letters of recommendation, 3 – 6 contacts for references, all social media URLs and the candidate's DMV record. We review all letters of recommendation, social media platforms, and we call and document references associated with all candidates.

What types of background checks do you complete?

Once a client intends to hire a candidate, Seaside performs additional background checks. We run a Social Security number trace, checking every county that candidate has lived in for criminal activity, as well as a DMV report. Seaside also offers extra services such as a credit report, sexual offender investigation as well as education and job verification for an additional fee.

How long does the Seaside Matchmaking Process take?

Seaside speaks to all prospective clients before having a face-to-face consultation. Our consultation process enables our staff to best assess your individual needs. Seaside then sends candidates that fit the type of domestic employee you are seeking. Trial time is set once the candidate is selected and if the trial is successful, an employment offer is prepared with the assistance of our staff. The process takes between one and eight weeks, depending on the difficulty of the search and the availability of candidates who match your needs.

What is California's Trustline™ Registry?

Trustline™ Registry is California’s background check for in-home childcare providers. All Seaside Nannies and Newborn Care Specialists are required to register before being submitted to our clients. The candidate's fingerprints are filed with the DOJ, the FBI, the California Central Childcare Index and the California Department of Social Services.
