FAQs

Q: What is the process?

To begin the process, please upload your resume and a recruiting director will be in touch within 24 hours. Once we have reviewed your resume we will request a phone conversation, provided your resume reflects the requirements we have listed for each field of service.  If the phone conversation is successful, we will request a face to face interview.  If the interview goes well and there is a fit, we will call all references and finish the registration process to get you on board for representation to our clients.  We require Trustline™ Registry for all childcare providers or candidate working within a household with children.

Q: How long will it take me to find a position?

It can happen right away or it could take several weeks. The speed of finding a position with Seaside is dependent on several factors including supply and demand and the fit between clients and candidates.

Q: What can I expect from Seaside as my representative?
You can expect to create a relationship with awesome individuals who love the field of service and taking care of others. We go to all of our clients to assess their family dynamic and make sure our candidates are going into a safe environment. Seaside supports all candidates from the beginning to the end of the placement process, including salary negotiation. Our staff is available to assist with advice and help with communication.
Q: How many locations do you have?

We support the greater San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles areas.

Q: Is there a cost to register with Seaside?
There is no cost to register with us. Nannies and Newborn Specialists must register with the Trustline™ Registry which is an out of pocket cost from the childcare provider before being submitted to a client.
Q: What is the Trustline™ Registry and why are Nannies required to register?
Trustline™ is California’s background check for in-home childcare providers in which all Seaside Nannies and Newborn Care Specialists are required to have. Clients appreciate the thoroughness of our screening process and that our childcare providers have an initial screen before meeting face to face. The candidate's fingerprints are registered with the DOJ, the FBI, the California Central Childcare Index and the California Department of Social Services.  We encourage you to learn by visiting http://trustline.org/.
Q: Does Seaside take a percentage of my compensation?
No, all of our agency fees are paid by our clients.
Q: What about holiday, vacation pay and other benefits?
Benefits are upon the discretion of each individual client.
Q: What is the average salary of the candidates you represent?
Candidate hourly wages and salaries vary depending on the field of service the candidate works. Seaside candidates range anywhere from $48,000 to $250,000 or more annually.
Q: What if it is not working with the family I am placed with?
Seaside respects everyone involved in the process of placement and understands that this is a relationship based industry. Seaside expects the candidates will give the client a proper two to four-week notice. We typically assist the candidate on a new job search provided that notice is given properly and talent have not breached their contract between agency or client.

Q: How does your service work?
Seaside speaks to all prospective clients before having an in-home consultation. Our in-home consultation process enables our staff to best assess your individual needs. Seaside then sends candidates that fit the type of domestic employee you are seeking. Trial time is set once the candidate is selected and if the trial is successful, an employment offer is prepared with the assistance of our staff.
Q: What are the fees and replacement policies for using Seaside?

All fees are based on a candidate's annual salary.
Initial retainer $250 (due when meeting for initial in-home consultation)
All agency fees have minimum of $2,500

Live out nannies only

15%             3-month replacement policy
18%             6-month replacement policy
20%            12-month replacement policy

Live-in nannies

18%             3-month replacement policy
20%             6-month replacement policy
25%            12-month replacement policy

All other domestic staff

15%             3-month replacement policy

Overnight infant specialists

25%            Overnight infant specialists and short-term placements

Q: How do you find your candidates?

Most of our candidates come to us via word of mouth through the community or recommended by their past employers. Some find us online through various search engines and social media platforms.

Q: What is the screening process?

After we review submitted resumes, we will request a phone call with qualified candidates. If the initial phone call goes well and the candidate meets our requirements, we will request a face to face interview. We require a cover letter, letters of recommendation, 3-6 phone numbers for references, all social media URL’s, and the candidate's DMV record.

We review all letters of recommendation, social media platforms, call and document references associated with the candidate. All Seaside childcare providers are required to be fingerprinted with the Trustline™ Registry before being submitted to our clients. Seaside does not work with candidate with prior DUIs, felonies or misdemeanors.

Q: What is the Trustline™ Registry?

Trustline™ Registry is California’s background check for in-home childcare providers.  All Seaside Nannies and Newborn Care Specialists are required to register before being submitted to our clients.  The candidate's fingerprints are filed with the DOJ, the FBI, the California Central Childcare Index and the California Department of Social Services. Q: What other types of background checks does Seaside do on the candidates?

Once a client intends to hire a candidate, Seaside performs additional background checks. We run a Social Security number trace checking every county that candidate has lived in for criminal activity. Seaside also offers extra services such as a credit report, sexual offender investigation as well as education and job verification for an additional fee.

Q: How long does the process take?

The process takes between one week to eight weeks, depending on the difficulty of the search and the availability of candidates that matches your needs.

Q: What are the hourly rates/salaries for the types of staff Seaside provides?

Nannies: $30. - $40. hourly
Newborn Care: $40. - $50. hourly
Housekeepers: $30. - $40. hourly
Chefs: $100k - 180k annually
Personal & Executive Assistants: 85k - 100k annually
House & Estate Management: 100k - 250k annually
Domestic Couples: 125k - 175k annually

Q: What are the typical benefits that talent receives with employment?
Clients are not required to offer benefits in the state of California, but many of the best candidates expect paid time off, health insurance, federal holidays, sick pay and mileage reimbursement if using their vehicle.
Q: Is Seaside responsible for payment to the talent?
Seaside is a referral agency only, so all clients are responsible for making sure that the candidate of their choice is paid properly.
Q: Are we responsible to pay taxes?
Yes, everyone is required in paying their taxes. Seaside is happy to refer clients to payroll services we are affiliated with.
