Summary:
An exceptional opportunity awaits for a fantastic private educator! We are looking for a state credentialed teacher to join a Mandarin-speaking household as a governess/tutor for four children ranging from ages 3 to 13. The ideal candidate will bring experience teaching both middle and high school students, with particular expertise in working with gifted children on a full learning cycle through college preparation. This position requires someone who excels in humanities, science, and mathematics instruction while also genuinely enjoying working with younger children. As the two older children will attend sleepaway camp, the focus will shift seasonally to the elementary and preschool-aged children, requiring versatile educational approaches. This is a live-out, long-term position for a dedicated educator who can create an enriching American educational experience within a multilingual household.
Required Skills:
The successful candidate must be a native English speaker with state teaching credentials and a minimum of three years in each previous position, demonstrating commitment and professional stability. Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive curriculum, organizing educational field trips, implementing outdoor learning opportunities, and providing complete academic guidance aligned with American educational standards. We seek someone fun, upbeat, and bubbly with a genuine dedication to child development and education. The ideal governess/tutor will be highly flexible, adaptable to changing family dynamics, and committed to creating innovative learning experiences both inside and outside the home. The position requires excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity within a Mandarin-speaking environment, and the ability to balance academic rigor with age-appropriate engagement techniques spanning from preschool through early teen years. Only candidates seeking a long-term professional commitment should apply for this exceptional educational role. Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching or tutoring middle school, high school, or college students, with a strong emphasis on supporting high school learners.
