Summary:
A fun, active family of four living in Pacific Beach is seeking a loving, reliable, and playful Nanny/Family Assistant to become a true extension of their family. They have two adventurous boys: an energetic 4.5-year-old who loves construction vehicles, unicorns, animals, gardening, and storytelling, and an 11-month-old who is curious, just starting to crawl, and experiencing new milestones each day. Their older child attends preschool full-time from 8:30am to 3pm, while their baby is at home and will be the primary focus of care.
The family values creativity, laughter, and adventure, whether RV camping in Joshua Tree, exploring local beaches, visiting theme parks, or traveling abroad; they recently returned from several weeks in Japan. They seek a nanny who shares that energy and joy while supporting daily routines and peaceful parenting practices. Childcare will always be the top priority, with mornings dedicated to helping the preschooler get ready for school and the bulk of the day focused on nurturing the baby with feeding, naps, playtime, and developmental activities. Over time, the family hopes to find someone interested in growing with them, ideally stepping into more of a household manager role as the children get older. Possibility for occasional travel with the family (with plenty of notice),usually just a weekend or two per year. Care would be limited to about 8 hours per day, and outside of that, nanny would have free time to explore and enjoy their own adventures.
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will be nurturing, dependable, and proactive, bringing positive energy and excellent communication to the role. Primary responsibilities include caring for the infant, supporting the preschooler’s morning routines, and fostering a safe, engaging, and developmentally supportive environment for both children. During nap times, the Nanny/Family Assistant will provide light household support such as family laundry, unloading the dishwasher, washing bottles, stripping sheets, tidying shared spaces, and organizing the playroom. The role also includes meal prep for the children, occasional errands, and caring for the family’s pets, which include two indoor cats and, when the family is traveling, a backyard “mini farm” with sheep, chickens, and beehives. While not required, there may be opportunities to travel with the family for one to two weeks at a time.
Candidates should have at least three years of full-time nanny experience with infants and toddlers (or related early childhood experience), CPR/First Aid certification, up-to-date vaccinations, a safe driving record, and reliable transportation. Comfort with pets, a love of the outdoors, and the ability to balance structure with fun and spontaneity are essential. The family is looking for someone professional, punctual, and committed to building a long-term relationship who will love and care for their children as they do.
