Summary:
A warm, established household is looking for a compassionate and experienced CNA to provide evening and weekend care and companionship for a woman living with Alzheimer's disease. This role will work alongside the family's current full-time daytime caregiver, who has been with the family for a year, as the family has realized they now need dedicated coverage for evenings and weekends as well. The client remains fairly independent and deeply values her privacy and autonomy, so the right caregiver will know how to offer gentle guidance and support while giving her space when she wants it. This is a live-out position to start, with core hours to be discussed, though flexibility will be needed as schedules shift. The family's goal is for this to grow into a live-in role once everyone is comfortable, and a 40-hour week is guaranteed regardless.

Required Skills:
Responsibilities include emotional companionship, assistance with the evening medication routine, meal preparation and serving, light housekeeping, and running errands, all while helping maintain a calm, positive environment where she feels empowered and in control of her own care. The ideal candidate has prior experience working with individuals with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, a solid understanding of the disease and its progression, and strong communication, patience, and redirection skills, along with the ability to stay calm and composed in more challenging moments. Please note the client is a smoker, so comfort in that environment is required. Candidates should be organized, dependable, and skilled at balancing genuine companionship with respect for personal boundaries. A valid CNA certification and reliable transportation are required, and above all, this role calls for compassion, emotional intelligence, and a real desire to enhance someone's quality of life.
