Summary:
One of our favorite repeat clients, are seeking an exceptional "Jill of All Trades" type of chef to join their household team, as an independent contractor (ideally, although not a dealbreaker). This unique opportunity involves preparing specialized cuisine adhering to strict dietary guidelines including gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free requirements. The position requires preparing three weekly lunches and five dinners, with service between 5:00-6:00 PM, utilizing a dedicated private kitchen. This role is perfect for a creative culinary professional who thrives on crafting delicious, from-scratch meals using minimal, high-quality ingredients and excels at farm-to-table cooking. The position includes travel opportunities intermittently, for approximately three months annually to various destinations with the Principals. Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in restrictive dietary cooking, particularly those with strong vegan culinary backgrounds who can successfully work with limited animal proteins when required. This versatile professional must genuinely love dogs, as the household includes three beloved pets (two smaller dogs with vibrant personalities and one larger dog), and be willing to provide pet care during travel periods when Principals are out of town. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, welcome constructive feedback, maintain complete transparency, and show flexibility with scheduling including occasional weekend work. Experience sourcing from farmers markets, Chino Farms, Whole Foods, specialty retailers, and on-property gardens is essential. The successful applicant will be adaptable, travel-ready for overnight trips or staying at the house with the dogs if necessary, comfortable working alongside an established team and committed to creating exceptional dining experiences while honoring specific client requests within the established dietary framework.
